Richmond University student cafe
Michael Jones Architects have been appointed to review several assets of Richmond, the American International University in London. The University is split over two campuses; Richmond and Kensington.
The Kensington campus was in need of a convivial social centre, so we were commissioned to design a new café within the old art studios.This needed to be a flexible space: a place to relax and gather in groups, to be used for lectures, and an informal place to study.
Outside of its day to day use, the café becomes a venue for evening events, opening out onto an external courtyard area.
